Have you ever wondered "how much should I weigh?", or "am I overweight?", or even "am I underweight?"? Learning what your ideal weight should be is the first step to better health and a longer life. We know that what one weighs is important. Even so, most of us find it difficult to maintain our proper weight.

These weight charts should only be used as a general guide. They are intended for the majority of the population only, so there may be exceptions. It is noteworthy however, that these figures are based on lowest mortality rates, so it is important to have a goal to achieve your ideal weight.

To Approximate Your Frame Size

Bend forearm upward at a 90 degree angle. Keep fingers straight and turn the inside of your wrist toward your body. Place thumb and index finger of other hand on the two prominent bones on either side of the elbow. Measure space between your fingers on a ruler. (A physician would use a caliper.) Compare with weight tables below listing elbow measurements for medium-framed men and women. Measurements lower than those listed indicate small frame. Higher measurements indicate large frame.
